Three little mini guys...

Since it was fairly Spring like weather on Saturday, and because we love us some sweet cold creamy goodness on a warm day, we got some delicious ice cream. I LOVE ice cream- not as much as I love Mike, but it's definitely right up there on my list of must haves. Next part of the explanation: we have some bitty frames that need something in them. I wanted to put some sort of food item, and since we love ice cream so much (and to ring in Spring), it seems to be the perfect fit!

Sunday's finale

I just finished this one at 8:41 pm this Sunday night. I was just ten minutes late for it to be accurate, but I was so close! I like how the colors really make this pop; it's kind of like the pop art of Andy Warhol. The clock is pretty much as it looks in the photo, but the wall and table colors are completely different, which is most of the reason this one was so fun to paint!

Oh, and this one....

I did this around the time of the carrot cake craze... I decided (and told Mike) that I would post everything I do in the next little while, whether it's not the greatest or my favorite piece, because it motivates me to have people look at my art. I am pretty shy about it, so this is really helping to put it out there and give me an area to kind of showcase my stuff!

Sunday morning...

Mike and I had a meeting this morning and our ward got changed to 1:00 pm from 11:00 am, so I had a bit of time between obligations for some painting. This one is silly- some 3D glasses that we got when we saw Nightmare Before Christmas 3D. The silly thing about them is that they are from Chicken Run 3D- so they're a nice bright green. I love these little gems. Speaking of which, isn't it weird how some words are just plural- have no singular form, like pants, trousers, scissors, pliers, smithereens, and clothes? I think it's fascinating! Anyway, on to the painting... (plural is paintings)

Old art

I pulled this out the other day- a watercolor I did a while ago (probably a couple of years, I'd reckon.) I kinda like it, as far as watercolor goes. Actually, I really liked to do watercolors for a while there- I think I have more of a natural ability for it. The application of color in dark spots and vacancy of color for highlights makes sense to me. I like the vibrancy you get with oil painting, but I like the kind of whimsical affect you get with watercolors.

Don't laugh...

So, I was trying something a little different with this painting. The bitty plane on top of the books actually has some glittery- ness to it. I don't know if it really shows up on the photo, but, whatever. It just so happens that I was in the Tolkien/Bradbury section of Mike's collection of books, which is actually quite fitting for the oddness of the addition of the toy. This one was hard for me; probably because the books have to be fairly precise and there's lots of little writing and colors and stuff. Hmm.

Fortune Cookies

I just completed another painting! I love painting- I've taken a new liking to it since, um, yesterday when I did the roses. I decided to start small. Lately I haven't even picked up a paintbrush because I have been really intimidated by painting. I have a few larger paintings in progress that I just can't seem to finish. I think I just need to gain some confidence with smaller pieces first. So, here's one I think I'll call Lucky featuring one of my favorite snacks:

Painting and other pleasures

I want to tell you a story about my wonderful life/ husband...

This week has been kind of a blah week for me and, I think, Mike as well. On Wednesday, at work, I kept missing calls from a number that I didn't recognize. I finally was able to answer on the fourth-ish time. It was Mike! He said, "I didn't want to leave this in a message because I'm shy, but I was wondering if you wanted to go on a date with me tonight." Of course I said yes and wondered what was going on. He then proceeded to ask me what time would be best and that we would be going somewhere a little fancier than normal. He didn't break into husband mode at all and ended with, "well, I'll pick you up at 6:45. I am really looking forward to seeing you tonight."

I went home after work and changed my clothes and got ready for my big date! At 6:45 on the dot the doorbell rang. I answered it and Mike was standing there with a bouquet of roses! They were really beautiful light roses with bright red tips. They really make a handsome addition to our table! We went on our date and had a wonderful night. I love Mike so much for those little things he does to help me know that he cares. I love my roses so much that I painted a picture using a few of them. Following is the painting. What shall I call it?
